Types of SAT Tests
- SAT Reasoning Test
The SAT Reasoning Test tests students in three general areas: Critical Reading, Math, and Writing. The test tries to measure the critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving ability, and communication skill that form the basis of college academic success.
Test Time: 3 hours 45 minutes
Question Type: Multiple-choice with a 25-minute essay supplement
Grading: All sections marked 200-800, with special sub-scores for the essay and multiple-choice sections.
Test Structure: The SAT consists of 10 sections, which are:
A 25-minute essay (first section)
Eight multiple-choice sections on reading, math, and writing
A tenth 10-minute writing section
- SAT Subject TestsSAT Subject Tests are one-hour, multiple-choice tests that test the knowledge of a student in a particular subject of study such as English, History, Mathematics, Science, and Foreign Languages.
